EXTENDED WARRANTIES

Today there are dozens of companies that offer auto repair warranties. The premise is pretty simple: You pay them a flat rate up front; then, if anything breaks on your car, they pay for the repairs. Sounds simple, right?

But there’s a catch (isn’t there always?): The warranty company is only interested in paying for what’s actually broken on your car; nothing else. Sometimes there is a deductible and sometimes there is a maximum amount the warranty company will pay.

How is that a problem? Let’s say your timing belt breaks. To replace it, the technician has to remove the fan belts and the water pump. They’re just as old as the timing belt; they’re worn, but they aren’t broken… yet. So the warranty company won’t pay for them, even though they’re already off and would only cost a few bucks to replace.

They won’t pay for it because the insurance company is trying to minimize their expense in order to hold down the premium consumer pay for their policy.

At Cottman of Jacksonville, we work with the extended warranty companies. If your car is covered by an extended, 3rd party warranty, we’ll work with you and your insurance company.

And, if there’s something else that’d make sense to take care of at the same time, we’ll let you know so you can decide whether you’d like to spend a few extra bucks and get it handled while your car is already in for service. Because at Cottman of Jacksonville, you’re our customer, and we want you to get the best possible repairs, extended warranty or not.

So if your car is covered by an extended, 3rd party warranty, bring it to Cottman of Jacksonville for repairs. We can service your car.
